Lancia developed the original Stratos for competition rallying, at which it became highly successful. Soon after, Lancia decided to develop an evolution of the Stratos for GT racing (at that time called Group 5 Racing) and produced a prototype of a car to compete at le mans called the Group 5 Silhouette.

The Bertone Studio had designed the Group 5 Concept Car from which 2 prototypes were built.

The Evoluzione from Hennessy Racing is based on the styling of the Group 5 Concept Car, featuring a semi-monocoque design and kevlar body panels. The car will be fitted with 3litre twin turbo engine, complete with Weber Alpha Engine management and Racelogic traction control, although alternative final specifications are available.
