I've just completed the parts collection for my heater assembly, and I'm using some anaesthetic gas circuit tubing between the fan and the matrix. I almost used an old Stratos Replica Club membership card inside my gearlever gaiter, but used plywood instead!
What bizarre non-automotive components have you built into your car?

How about rubber washers in approx 1-inch diameter, from bottle tops of Newquay Steam (or else Grolsch or Newcastle Brown)!

A large plastic ring from a childs quoit set used to stop intermittent horn contact behind the steering wheel boss.
A small pile of lego used as a spacer.

I've just used a foam mouse mat between my heater matrix and the bulkhead - just got an optical mouse. wow, why didn't I do that long ago? No more sticky balls.
