I was just wondering. When you guys in the UK go rallying, are there minimum weights imposed on your Stratos replicas? Are there any other special rules you must comply with because your car is a replica (beyond what you would normally expect for a rally)?

Thanks,

John B.

Hi John
Dave will correct me if I am wrong but it used to depend on 12V or 24V engine. 12V had no minimum weight but 24V was 1000Kg I think. However there was talk of that being done away with. These are all rules for rallying not race or sprint that have different class structures. Hope thats of some help.

Thanks,

I was thinking it was probably something like that. There's a new rally sanctioning body trying to get started here in the States. Their current 2WD rules attempt to fit all cars into a single class using minimum weights. The minimum weight for a 3.0 liter NA engine (2 valve) is 2700 lbs. A 2.0 liter turbo gets you to 2885 lbs. It just seemed a bit excessive to me.

Hmm... 500 lbs of ballast; perhaps you could tow a trailer on events?

The figures I had in mind are 850kg & 1100kg, but I'll need to find a source for that.
