Has anybody got a photo of the new slimline doorcards? Gerry has described them to me, but a pic would help.
Thanks

The interior trim for doors. the original ones had the bins for helmet storage, but won't fit with door bars in place. Gerry's come up with a replacement that enables you to have door storage and doorbars. I think they get that name because on production cars they are usually asheet of hardboard covered with vinyl and clipped in place. No doubt a different name your side, John!

I suspected that might be it - just hadn't heard the term before. I wonder what the new ones look like. I'd considered just using a piece of aluminum.

Hiya
I've had a pair from Gerry, waiting to go in.
Not the whole panel though, these are just replacement pockets for the wider one's with helmet stowage.
Basically the slimline panels are just flat, fitting in the existing recess and sitting just slightly proud when in. Loads of room for the doorbars and padding, and using the same fixings can be swapped back to 'standard' if the door bars are removable too.
I'll take a couple of shots tonight.
Cheers
Rob:cool:
Edited - On closer inspection there is only about 1cm gap between the pocket and the bar at the very front, which is fine for me, but that may be just the way I have fitted my door bar brackets. Plenty of room for the rest of the bar length.

What types of covering have been used on door cards over the years? I'm going for the minimum Gp4 look and have a GP4 dash in satin black with door bars and slim pockets and was thinking of satin black paint. Possibly hard wearing smooth hammerite!!
I've read they used flock for the road car and early GP4 then moved to Nextel. Any advised would be appreciated.....

My doors are black alcantara, but the door pockets are covered in good old fashioned black vinyl, as its more hard wearing.
Being 6 ft 5 and having size 11 feet, as I gracefully get in/out the car I always end up scuffing the front bottom corner of the door pocket. If you paint it the pockets I'd be prepared for the paint to get scuffed/chipped in a very short period of time! :(

Nextel is a spray paint finish that comes up witha sort of peach fuzz finish as far as I am aware.

Nextel was used in the 70's and 80's on all sorts of applications, metal audio units etc. I believe it was a black based paint with a fine texture to provide a roughish finish..
I've not been able to find any leads for this product to date. Nextel TM was sold by ICI and has seemed to have been lost in time
Thanks Matt, that was my thought on paint wear!!

I painted mine with a thin coating of that black spray-on truck bed-liner material. I know it's not the original covering but I think it looks great with the chrome door pulls and it did a good job of hiding all the holes I patched in the fiberglass too.

Is that like the wrinkle finish paint? I think it's CBS that do that.

Oh where have I seen that before?
Looks just as good now and even the scuffing from my left foot (on the end of my icreasingly less mobile left leg) hasn't caused a problem.
Highly recommended.
