Can anyone suggest a supplier for the pins used to make the rear body section quick release?

Do you mean the hinge pins?

For bonnet pins see Demon Tweeks page 323

Hawks just use bolts, but the Allora design is no doubt different.

The pins you are thinking of are called pip pins and are available from Demon Tweeks altough they can probably be found more cheaply at an engineering/bearing supply house.

Hi Steve
Try Chris Smith, he has got some pins that go through the hinge and has a spring loop from one end to the other. I think Phil D has them on his car too.
Don't know where he gets them from, I've not seen them anywhere, I was aiming to have some off him one day.

Not got his number to hand at the mo, I'm sure someone could email you it though.

cheers

Don't you need a special receptical for pip pins?

What do the balls latch into? Do you mean they just pop out the other side of the hinge to stop the pin pulling out?

This is what I was looking at on Chris's car.

The "pip" pins work by having an internal rod that is spring loaded. There is a groove on the inner rod that the ball bearings drop into when the release pin is pushed. The holes in the outer tube are too small for the ball bearings to pop out of and provided they are a tight fit in the mounting bracket they can't be removed without releasing the balls.
As with anything mechanical, keep them oiled or they will seize inthe hinges! I know - one of mine is solid!

Hi all,
Thanks for the info, the type on Chis's car are what I was thinking about. Anybody got a name for a supplier?

I've done some digging over the weekend and found them.

They are called Tab lock or Wire lock, Lynch pins. I've only found imperial sizes so far but I'm sure these guys can help.

Speciality Fasteners and components. 01803 868677 Devon (just round the corner and down the bray then!)

or also try

I've also pulled off some pdf files which may be of use with pictures and dimensions, I mail you them.

cheers

What is the bit that the GB sticker is on, in Rob's photo above? Not all replicas have them. Is it a heat shield between the silencer and the boot floor?
