View Full Version : Fuel pre-filters

The metal-bodied primary fuel filter (USA made?) which Hugh supplied with my CAE kit, has self-destructed, filling the pump with a black powder (remains of the actual filter material?) and totally blocking the fuel flow. Now that all cars have their primary filter in the tank, I can't find a replacement with 1/2" pipes - the stores are full of secondary filters with tiny pipes.
Has anybody bought a metal-bodied filter with 1/2" pipes recently?

I thought they had to be out there somewhere. Don't seem to appear on a DT website search though. Thanks Rob.

Those filters rocks, touring car spec don't you know. They looks so good it's almost a crime to fit 'em.

I suppose I'll have to reroute all the fuel plumbing just so it can be seen! At those prices I wouldn't want it getting dirty down there by the tank would I!

If you've not ordered one yet check out Europa Spares www.europaspares.com (http://www.europaspares.com)
If you have, then don't look, you could have saved a few bob!
Sorry, only just realised today that's where I got mine from. It gets confusing when sourcing so many bits and trying to get the best Sando price!
cheers

PS I don't think it's listed on line but it is in the catalogue, as a Bullet filter.

Thanks, I'll dust off my catalogue and check it out. As you said, it doesn't show up on a simple site search.

David,
Grateful you could post whatever you find that fits - I'm still on the original Hugh-supplied prefilter - sounds like I could usefully change it out.
Thanks
Arthur.

I'm temporarily running a commercial post-pump filter (small pipes) while I shop around. It looks as if Hugh's (USA sourced?) pre-filter was made of a chunk of lava held in place by a big spring. The rock broke up (but didn't seem to harm the pump) and the sprung plates moved together to shut off the flow.
I've never heard of this happening before.
