Can anyone tell me what the dimensions / description of the throttle end of the Alfa cable is? My engine didn't come with a cable, so I haven't seen the business end of one.
I seem to be getting nowhere with Lister. In spite of sending details of what it's for and dimensions and pictures, they just tell me "we don't do aftermarket replacement cables, we just do one-offs for motorsport"! Er, hello guys, anyone in?

Its worth perservering with Lister bcause their cables are very good and wiil make a big difference to the feel and reliability of the throttle. Ask for a copy of their dimension sheet (for one off m/sport items if it makes them happier). This gives the various dimension you will need to supply to them.

I have allways bought a length od boden cable , inner and outer , a bag of nipples and make my own.
When I first fit the cable I actually run 2 , although in 10 years of rallying I have never needed to use the back up.
As it is a motorsport requirement I fit an additional return spring on the throttle body

I tried making my own cables but wasn't really happy with what I ended up with, so went to Listers. Eventually got what I wanted and it was worth the wait. They are unbelievably free moving and only cost about £25 each (I too plan on fitting 2).
I am using a Beta engine at the moment so the dimensions I used won't help you sadly........but I am hoping to be able to adapt them to the V6 when I fit that.

I got my throttle cable from a company in Islington, can't remember the name (10 years ago: Speedy Cables perhaps? They used to advertise in the Autosport etc). Recommended by Hugh Carson.

Has anybody fitted a twin cable setup to an Alfa throttle body/ If so, how please?

Chris,
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's a twin cable. I think it's still a single cable actuating the throttle plate, but there is a spare cable installed alongside. If the primary cable breaks, you just unhook it, and use the reserve.
Probably more useful if you plan on rallying the car and want to guard against a broken throttle cable putting you out of a race. Then again, if replacing those cables is a pain in the arse after the car is built, it might be easier to run two cables during intial construction.
I have a friend with a Volkswagen Beetle that has a penchant for breaking cables (clutch, I think). Last time he replaced it, he ran two spares. That way, it wouldn't strand him in traffic (again!) and he'd have an additional cable in reserve so he wouldn't have to crawl under the car again for a while.

Hadn't thought of that Scott. I've seen twin cable setups on multiple carbs and assumed it was the same. Thanks
