Which bits need shielded? Is it underneath against the silencer, or in front against the exhaust manifold, or both/ Can anyone post any pictures?
Thanks:cool:

Chris,
The heat shield I bought from Hawk cars fits against the front of the boot, next to the exhaust manifold. I think the bottom edge may wrap under the boot a couple of inches, but I don't know if it's enough to really provide much shielding from the silencer.
I'll try to post a picture tonight - I finally have access to a digital camera.

There are two different areas/parts to consider, as I think you've suggested.
First is a heat-shield attached to the front side of the boot panel, which helps a lot in keeping the excess heat from the rear-facing exhaust manifold from the boot/rear panel itself. This is usually implemented as a sheet of stainless (or ally) mounted a small distance from the fibre panelwork, to provide an air gap for insulation. You could use other alternative methods here though, such as the stick-on insulation blankets that have a shiny surface.
The other option is for a heatshield to be fitted to the exhaust system itself. This would take the form of a separate metal panel mounted over the silencers, again with an airgap between it and the pipes/boxes. The idea of this one would be to reduce the direct transfer of heat into the base of the boot floor. That would depend a lot on the design of your exhaust system and silencers.
Hope that helps a little bit!
