Today I visited my local AR dealer to get my rusty water cooling system pressure cap replaced (cap on plastic water expansion container). He told me to make a chose out of three versions. Available are: a 0.7 bar; a 1.0 bar and an unknown pressure one. The version to use comes out of the chassis number of the donor car. It is clear, in case of a Stratos I do not have this number. Who can help with a suggestion which one to use?

Bert,

After looking through some of my paperwork, it appears that there was a change in the cooling system layout sometime in 1991. Two of the pressure caps straddle the changeover, but I don't have any idea about the third.

The two pressure caps I was able to find are differentiated by the serial number of the car, not the build date or engine code. Without a VIN, I don't know how you'd look up the correct one.

I assume that you don't have the old cap to take in as a reference?

Scott,
No number, or any other indication on the cap!

Is your expansion tank the original AR one? Various donors seem to be used for this part.
