I heard a rumour (or fact?) the other day that Cars & Car Conversions is no more! Anyone know if this is correct or not?

If this is the end for CCC, that's a real shame.

I've just had a look on the linkhouse (ipc media) web site and it's not listed although miniworld and the like are.......

John

I understand that the issue going on sale this week is the last one, unless a buyer is found.

Comments from Steve Hole, on his totalkitcar site:

Really was quite sad to………………..hear the news of the demise of Cars & Car Conversions last week. When I worked for Link House Magazines the title was selling over 80,000 copies per month but that figure had dropped to a rumoured sub-10k recently. There’s been some bloody good people working on that title over the years such as the late Russell Bulgin and Steve Bennett of Circuit Driver. A great shame that the current bunch of bananas couldn’t keep the magazine up to decent standards. Incidentally you may recall that I’ve been highlighting the hilarious antics of a certain so-called journalist on these pages over the last months. I’m still not going to reveal his name but can tell you that he worked for CCC! ‘nuff said huh?

I remember when CCC was a magazine worth buying not borrowing. In those days you could put a cortina engine in your escort or a bedford cf engine in your chevette, drive around all night and look forward to a fried breakfast if you made it.

I remember buying the CCC issue with Andy Dawson's Chequered Flag driving experience article from the newsagent, not from Ebay, or a show.

Mexicos, Avengers, Mini's, Twin Cams ...... aahh, those were the days.

So does this mean that my 'assorted collection' of CCC magazines from 1981 through to 1998 will now be worth something? ;)

I keep meaning to check what my magazine collection might be worth and sell it off - the rafters in the loft are creaking somewhat!!!

There's only a couple of issues of CCC that I would want to keep - not just because I'm in it, there are some really good old write-ups in those earlier issues...

If it is the last, they're doing their best to hide it. The current edition lists the contents of next month, still offering subscriptions, etc.
