I've got a bit more space down the tunnel, now I've done away with one of the 15mm pipes, leaving 1 X 15mm & 2 X 35mm. They now rattle a bit, and I'm scratching my head over two points. All suggestions as ever, gratefully received!:)

If I treat the inside with Waxoyl, will it just melt off again with the heat from the pipes? The container and website don't talk about melting points.

If I fill the tunnel with aerosol foam, I lose drying airflow through it - would this matter if it prevents more moisture entering?

I don't want my chassis rotting from the inside out. (Or the car's)

I'm sure that the waxoyl will melt with all that heat generated but I would have thought that this heat will also help keep the steel dry. Whilst that won't stop corrosion it will slow it down. If the pipes are rattling try putting a few pieces of rubber hose every foot or so along the length of one or more of them. Finally you could make a plate to cover each end of the spine and fit grommets where the pipes come out.

I covered my pipes with black plastic-foam pipe insulation which not only jams them firmly in the tunnel but also reduces some of the interior heating. My Waxoyl appears to be still there too.

I've also nailed some of that pipe insulation to the garage wall to stop me chipping the paint off the edge of the door!

I used squirty foam, no rattles, no signs of rot after 15 years, so far!
