Anyone know of any other rear drive rally cars? I was trying to think of some and my mind went blank. Thanks for any help!

No current rally cars - they're mainly either 4wd or fwd.

Dave, you may not want to call it a rally car !, but you left out a Triumph TR7 V8 ?

Re. the TR7 V8 - that's a rally car alright, even if the road TR8 is crap!

Alistair Flack campaigns one of these as a member of Hart M.C. too, so I'd best stick up for him! He also sells breathable car covers, which come with many recommendations...


As for the topic, I thought a Rabbit was a front-wheel-drive car from Volkswagen :p

That aside, many of the cars I'd like to own are rwd rally cars, also to include:

Opel Manta 400 (and Ascona), Renault Turbo II, Alpine A110 et al, Fiat Spider Abarth, Rover Vitesse SD1, Austin Healey 3000, Datsun 240Z, Datsun/Nissan 240RS, even the Toyota Supra got used for tarmac rallies! I won't go so far as to suggest the Triumph Spitfire or MGBs and MGCs, although I guess they all got rallied at some stage, as have various Rolls Royce models if you go back aways!

I guess this shows my age just a bit - or at least my taste in reading material...

My list wasn't meant to be exhaustive, and was done in a rush as I was leaving for Abingdon.

And, yes, I left out 3 of my own favourite rwd rally cars

Lancia 037
Alpine A110
TR7 V8

Actually I loved watching anything RWD as they are so exciting - and sideways. Although a well driven 4wd or FWD can also be exciting if driven well.

Can't believe that I left out the 037 Rally too - that's also one of my favourites!

Plenty more if you go back to the 'classics' though, as fwd wasn't picked up by the manufacturers as a cheap way to make volume cars at that time.
