View Full Version : help - home needed for the alien

I'm part way through a 3-year contract in Germany, and the Strat (aka the alien) is sitting quietly in a garage in England - or so I thought. A not very nice person has decided that he wants the Strat out - so very soon it is homeless. Bringing it over here is pretty much the final resort, and family/friends are unable to help.
So, what to do? Are there any members with a spare Stratos-sized space anywhere? Or perhaps you know of a decent storage company or such-like. I don't mind where (in England) so long as it's safe.
It'd be ideal as a 'how not to it' exhibit.

Hi,
Let me measure up in my garage - I can certainly store it safely on the hard standing next to my garage no problem at all - and maybe even get it inside. It would be behind a locked 5 bar gate thats fenced over so cannot be seen from outside of my garden.
Garage is locked, beefed up security and an alarm on the inside - I used to keep my Evo, track Integrale and my Beta in there - now its just the Beta and the Strat.
I just built a large bench in the garage which might stop me from getting more than 2 cars in, ( so not sure if I can still get 3 cars and the workshop in there).
I'll let you know later,
BTW - Based 10 minutes from London Heathrow

Sounds perfect - it'd be until June 2005. I'll await your measuring up. E-mail me your phone number.
Cheers

Hi,
Well I've measured up and it will fit inside the garage if the rear canopy is off, if its fitted then its about 20cm too big, but could go in longways with a bit of jigging about.
Other than that it will certainly fit on the hard standing next to the garage with ease. If you had a waterproof carcover then all the better - I am planning on covering the hardstanding with some kind of lean-to/car port so I can work outside even if its raining, but have to finish the house first!
During the round of hot weather we've just had here in the UK I've had to defer working in the garage as its just too damn hot!
Email me at mattnovat@btopenworld.com I'll send you my contact numbers and we'll have a chat about it. I'll send you some pics and then you can decide from there.
Have posted you a PM (personal message) on here with my numbers
Cheers
