Sorry Jerry, they're perfectly innnocent!! However, we do have a shop near us that stocks some very special toys that even Demon Tweeks doesn't dare sell!
Hope all is well? I've still got a small box of excellent Dutch Beers with your name on them ready to exchange for your 124 brake pads when we next meet up....
I've been doing a bit of braking recently.....

Next year, if Dave and I can do the deal, we'll all have the chance to do a set of special sprint stages in Holland at one of the Dutch National Rally events!
What out for more details in the newsletter this month.....
See you soon. Cheers, Nico/

Just picked up my copy on Friday from Minigrid http://www.minigrid.com/ in Toronto. Four and half hours and $30 in gas round trip from my home. The book cost me $82.80 CDN. (that's about 37.54 GBP) It would have been cheaper to order it and have it sent via the post. Oh well..... :(
Interesting side note. The chap I spoke with at the shop showed me a slot car of a Beta Monte Carlo that Gilles Villenuve drove in the Moto d'Italia. Seems there is quite the story behind this car and the event. I have seen no other reference to this so far. Anyone have any info on this??

The Italian motoring publisher Giorgio Nada has just published what I assume is a new book by Andrea Curami celebrating 30 years of the Stratos "Lancia Stratos Trent'Anni Dopo" - 202 pages for €40. Since it appears to be in Italian, I suppose I shall have to buy it and check it out. With only 202 pages (for €40) I don't imagine it can contain anything previously unpublished.

Yes, that's the book the thread's about. Some new photos I hadn't seen before. Doesn't get round to the Stratos until page 69 though.

There is a review of this book in the latest Auto Italia magazine, which liked it but also pointed out that it has quite a bit of coverage on other rally cars from the Fiat stable.
By the way, this magazine has a 2004 calendar with it, and December shows a Lancia Stratos, in Olio Fiat colours (and a Hawk advert which happens to show an orange race car :p )
I think the Olio Stratos photo is accredited to Michael Ward, so if someone is after pictures of a car in this livery, he may well be able to help (contact him at the magazine and see if he has other photos that he may be prepared to share or lend in some way).

Hi All,
STEPHENOS,
Slot "BETA",
If its the slot car you want more details about? It is probably the "GB TRACK" car made by "FLY", I collect "FLY" slot cars.
You will find all the slot cars "FLY" has made listed in this site:-
www.lescars.com
You want the "GB TRACK" section.
Thanks Rob.:D

Just bought this today - Nice calendar - the photos are really good. December is a great advert for / by Hawk. The photo is just about to be the desktop on my computer!

Hi Rob,
No, sorry if I didn't make it clear. I was interested in learning more about Villenueve's car and the race and the story behind the story.
Nigel Trow's book "Lancia Racing" gives it just a brief 1/2 paragraph. He only says that they (the Monte Carlo Turbo's) were disqualified from 1st & 2nd for using the "autostrade" in some parts.
The story I heard had Villeneuve sitting on the side of the road eating a burger waiting for the competition. He still won by several minutes over the sister car. After the disqualifications Stratoses, Strati.... (What's the plural of Stratos?) finished 3rd & 4th.
