Having recent experience of breaking rotor arms, has anyone looked into using a ignition pack from a 155/166/GTV with a mappable ECU in order to make the distributor redundant?

Omex do a system that will allow you to do that. You would need their 700 series
Speak to Richard Wragg on 01242 681044 or by email richardw@omextechnology.co.uk
I have an Omex 550 mappable system on my car, although I still use the 164 distributor, and I am very pleased with it.
I am actually just working out something with Richard for club members to get a discount off the retail prices, but if you speak to him direct, I'm sure he will sort you out anyhow if you mention the Stratos Club.
