Does anyone know if Chequered Flag are still in business and if so, where they are and how can I contact them.
Thanks.
Mick

I bought my car from a dealership called the Chequered Flag in Los Angeles but I don't know if they're related to the Chequered Flag that ran a Stratos in the UK during the 70's. I can get you their contact information if you think it would be useful.

Hi John,
Thanks for that, any information about Chequered Flag would be appreciated, even if it turns out not to be linked.

The Chequered Flag in Chiswick (West London) is still in business, but there is no longer anyone there who knows anything about its rallying past.

Graham Warner provided me with some information to pass on to Jack Romano of Lancia Motor Club for an article that LMC were compiling about the Chequered Flag Stratos. While we were talking, Graham agreed to do an interview with me for the website - I've just been too busy since to get up to his house to do it. Maybe I'll be able to manage it soon after Abingdon.

I'll also contact Jack Romano and ask if I can reproduce the LMC article on my website.

Last I knew, the Chequered Flag were selling TVRs and the like.

In a strange coincidence. it turned out that my wife's uncle (yeah, my uncle too if you want to be pedantic) used to work for the 'Flag when they were running their Stratos rally car(s).

His job was panels and paint. so he was kept extremely busy with bodywork repairs on the Stratos. Unfortunately, he passed away last year, so no further discussions to be had with him about those old days...

What sort of information did you want to know about the Chequered Flag garage, or the cars? One of the kit owners has his car painted in the Flag paint scheme (John Duffin I seem to recall?). There is also a video clip or two showing this car in action (and not in action when it fell through the start ramp on one event). Somewhere in my 'archives' I think I have a poster-sized article on the Flag Stratos, including its fiery demise. The car is also featured in the Autocar book 'Rally Cars - Given the Works', now out of print but occasionally available second-hand. It may also be featured in the Brooklands Book which is a compilation of road tests, if that would be of any interest.

Hello 'Rut'
Nice to hear from you.
The reason I would like to contact Chequered Flag is that one of my clients is looking to reproduce some products with the 'Flags' logo and livery.
Obvoiusly we consider it only proper to seek approval or permission etc. to use what I imagine is a registered trade mark.
Thanks for everyones input, keep any info. coming
Cheers.
Mick

Then you need to contact "The Chequered Flag" in Chiswick, London. You should be able to get them via directory enquiries. I can't remember the name of the road, might be Chiswick High Street - it's certainly one of the main roads off "Chiswick Roundabout" where the North Circular meets the A4.

As John says, they now sell TVR, Rover, and something else.

David,
Brilliant. Thanks for that. I'll pass on to my client. Hopefully, this should allow him to proceed. I'll let you know more when we meet at Abingdon.
Cheers.

Hi Paul. I have Ron's contact details as I am the SEC Membership secretary.

Tim,

I think that Paul (and Cheryl) wanted contact details for Graham Warner, but maybe Ron Pellatt has that info and can get all parties in touch with each other?
