Right, this is the first of a good number of questions that I need help with as I start to gather the info and bits needed before the car's refit sometime in the future. More questions on interior and lighting to follow.

As the title says, but specifically:

I know the door edge lights are from a beta saloon (or 164 12V slightly less accurately)

Here are the questions:
1. Were these the usual push button things or a microswitch fixed to the door lock mechanism?
2. What donor part was used for the door switches?
3. What was used as the protection for the wiring from body to door? Which donor?
4. Exactly where are the holes for the wires?
5. Do the door edge lights both come on together?
6. Are they linked to the operation of the interior light?
7. Anybody have some pics of the hinge area?

I really should have recorded this at the David Sutton museum :( Really miss Tryphon's encyclopaedic knowledge. Wonder where he's gone.

All info gratefully received.

Peter:

1 - Simple push switches were fitted to my car, you could use genuine X/19.

Like these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/fiat-x19-x1-9-FIAT-X19-X-19-door-courtesy-light-switch_W0QQitemZ350056567276QQihZ022QQcategoryZ313 52QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp 1638Q2em118Q2el1247)

2. - I think Fiat 124 - but happy to be corrected.

3. - Not sure but a tour of the scrapyard may be best option.

4. - Don't know!

5. - No, only the one side when the door opens with the interior light.

6. - Yes, but not when the interior light is switched on from inside the car.

7. - Will check.

Thanks Matt.

I'll look into the rubber tube thing a bit more - looking in the 124 or X1/9 direction again I think.

That only one door edge light comes on at a time is a level of sophistication that even the later 164 did not have. My 147 lights up both at the same time too.

I imagine somebody upset Tryphon. I just think it's a shame that he's no longer on here. He'd know these little details that are so hard to establish without reference to a genuine Lancia car.

I've obviously missed something in the relatively recent past here...

I'm taking a wild guess here, but it may have something to do with the 1975 Tour de Corse thread/"discussion"

Hmmm yes - I had forgotten there was that little altercation.
