I think there have been several threads on this, but what interval should the rivets be to hold them on to the door card & the alloy door cap? I’m using one like this http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/pc-1025-166-window-weatherstrip.aspx

I'd go for the "related product" - the left hand spring clip shown on your attachment as they are much less fiddly to fit and can be removed when the weatherstrip wears out. The only downside to them is the strip retainer loop can stand proud of the felt and scratch the perspex, they can be bent down to stop this. An exposed rivet head can do the same (especially if the mandrel breaks badly and you don't fix it!)

Brent,
I've got the door inners out of my car at the moment.
The weather strips are held on with some neat little spring clips as Guy describes. I'll try and take a photo?

Yes, spaced every 3 inches or so. The idea of rivetting them to the ally channel and then trying to fit the channel over the top of the door didn't appeal at all! You'd have to cut notches in the top of the door to accomodate the rivet plus trying to drill through one side of the soft ally without marking the other when the drill punches through..
The spring clips grip the ally very well but aren't so good on fiberglass, once they've been off once or twice and the tags tend to rip into the matting when removing them. Mine have been off once after first fitting before the door inners were painted, again when they were flock coated and once more to replace the weather strips. But I'd still use them on the inners rather than rivets!

I think I used countersunk rivets for this, although some bits might have been stuck with polyurethane adhesive. Hope I don't need to remove those!
