What a sad day to hear this. :(

I've emigrated and managed to take my strat with me.
I know you'll regret it. Is there no way possible you could ship it in any way as a box of parts (strip the alfa first).

Failing that store it then ship it later anything but give up the dream car !
There's nothing like owning your dream.

If I'm sure you won't be short of takers from the ad, but sad to hear from a fellow sec owner.

It will only be a temporary set back! We need to be 'light' for the emigration - an initial container with essentials, then in a year or so when we have found our feet and got somewhere permanent another container will be coming out with other stuff and I'm sure there will be a bit of space for, maybe a couple, of goodies!

Won't be able to bear those empty kiwi roads for long without something to play on them!!

Thanks for the condolances!

There's always more than one way to skin a cat. The short term hassle is more than worth it for a two min blast down the road in your own strat.

There's plenty of help on here for anything you need. Somebody always knows or has a friend who can help.

Club membership is worth it's weight in gold where ever you are in the world.

Best of luck – but it’s a real shame not bringing the car with you. It will be hard to replace it with another this side of the world.

When I brought my Stratos out to NZ back in 1991 it was just a rolling chassis with the engine bolted in. The shipping agent built a floor over it (in the container) for other stuff, but the car was packed chocker with clothes, microwave oven, tools, spares, bedding, you name it, it was stuffed somewhere.
In fact it was so tightly packed that the receiving agent over here asked me to take my stuff out of it before customs looked at it to avoid any problems with duty and so that they could check it was a car!

If you are passing through Wellington give me a call.

Regards

Steve

Sorry to hear you are considering letting the car go. If it helps, I do a lot of car storage for classics and kits, including collection and delivery service. We have three Strats here already (two my own and one my brothers) among other things. Always willing to help out a fellow club member if poss, so let me know if this might be of use. I'm just south of Glasgow, so not too far away from you.

Good luck whatever you decide.........
