Hi,

Latest update...

After what I thought was going to be a long (months) DVLA wait, they turned up at the house after about 4 weeks.

The chap was very pleasant, appreciated the cup of tea and went on to talk about age related plates and Q plates.

He advised that DVLA didn't really like "Q" plates and would much prefer age related... Any decent trail of info to identify where the engine and box came from will do...

He did some spot checks on castings to verify age, but that was about it. He also took away some of my key receipts (mostly HAWK) and scanned them into their database.
It's not unusual to rip off someone elses paperwork to aid documentation.

All done now... registered, taxed, insured etc... Just finishing a few bits off.
First real blast the other night (pre snow) and it certainly knows how to pick up speed! At 90mph (and increasing quickly) my other half was starting to become even more vocal than the engine!! Need sound insulation (to both?)
The car was also strting to skip over the bumps in the road.. All good fun.

Took cam covers off to investigate the ticking noise... All looks OK. Valve clearances were all slightly tight, so I adjusted exhaust, but just noted the inlet. Most are around 16 to 17 thou. Manual states 18.7 to 19.8 ish.

Anyone got any knowledge on how critical a couple of thou (tight) is going to be...

Cheers

Andrew
