Hit a big one :(

One cannot mount the Alfa brakes to the car if the brake mounting bracket is missing from the conversion kit.

One cannot obtain the missing parts from Gerry H until he returns from holiday.

So, now I have a week of thumb twiddling

Very good Chris - that's bought a smile to my face - I wish I'd thought of that! :)

March seems to be the month of car woes.

My wifes BMW passed it MOT but is losing water very slowly plus it was making a funny noise - replaced the water pump and fixed the noise but the water loss is still occuring. Radiator next as the oil is fine. Todays news is that it sounds like she's blown an exhaust gasket somewhere.

My BMW failed its MOT initially on a faulty headlamp, it turns out that the "Technician" at the BMW dealership couldn't even fit a bulb properly and only had it located on one lug, so it was pointing upwards. I took the car home and found the problem, reseated the bulb in the mount correctly, ran it back to my MOT man and bingo it passed.

(BMW Stealership rates are £140 Per Hour and they can't fit a bulb!!!!) - I'm glad I'm never going back there.

Just the old Espace to MOT this week - expecting a few bits and bobs to do on the old girl. (She has covered 175,000 miles bless her)

So its just been one of those phases in life where the car problems all come at once. Glad (in a way) that its not just me that seems to suffer these car woes.

What are you welding Tim?

Hi Matt. Need to strenghthen / repair / improve the rear top wishbone mounts on the Strat. The welds on the right side had cracked and there was a fair amount of flex when you rocked the car. Arthur has had the exact same issue on his Corse i.

I have found 'a very nice man' who is also a damned good welder who plans to refabricate the affected area with a better/stronger design. An additional tube will be tig welded into place, then a new hanger faricated that the top wishbone attaches to.

I also plan to replace the old spax bushes in the top and bottom wishbones with some Superflex poly bushes.

If it goes according to plan then I shall be £400 worse off, but won't have to worry again.

Also taking the opo to strip the heads on the motor to replace the leaking valve guides.

Quite a lot to get done, now that the pesky Punto wants some attention as well

Cheers

Tim
