I have finally decided what engine to fit in my Litton Corse chassis !
Toyota's GT4 engine sits central in car, is very compact with turbo and intercooler and is very easy to tune also the gearbox is cable change. Should start with about 240bhp !
I am still hoping to get car running for this summer just popping to garage now before family get home !
I will try to post some pictures when it starts too come together.

GT4 - 2L 4WD, am I right? 240 bhp plentyto start with! Inly problem is nobody has used this engine before, so you're on your own with the installation!

It has a chargecooler Guy, well they used to have :o Just needs piping up to a pre rad at the front.

Madham, I have a GT4 chargecooler pump if you want to buy it. Very good condition too.

Has anybody looked into fitting one of those twin turbo mitsubishi v6 engines?

Would be a good base to start from

Why not the Alfa V6TB ?

The gearbox and enginemounts fits as for the other 164 engines ?- if you're into turbos.

FYI, i have just measured a 20v 5 cylinder coupe turbo engine, from the block/gearbox mounting face to the end of the crank pulley and found it is 10mm longer than a 166/gta spec alfa v6. So that will fit nicely in a Hawk chassis  . By the way, the gearbox casings are either the same or very nearly the same.

Who will be the first with a quattro soundtrack and 400bhp :D

Twin turbo V6 mitsi engine; always thought this was a bit weedy.
Think they get more power from the Evo four-pot. In fact, 700-1000bhp not uncommon nowadays from the 4G64 lump with a massive turbo :o)
Wouldn't go for either of those though, or the fragile-when-tuned Fiat turbo lump.

Prefer it to be Italian in origin. Also definitely prefer a V6. Can get 400bhp from a tuned 24v at 3.8 litres, I believe.

IMHO

For the big-turbo gang, why not an Audi 1.8 4-pot? Reliable 300bhp+ on a mostly stock motor. Not my thing either, but certainly cheap and effective.

Same engine in some of the Seat models, and VW motors, I guess.
Certainly known to work well.

Reckon the [not cheap] Cyclone V8 has to be a decent alternative engine.

I was at Emerald a while back and they'd just finished mapping an Elise with a 1.8 VAG unit. 330bhp on a mostly stock motor. Don't know/can't recall the mods it had, but they weren't extensive. Might just have been bigger injectors (plus lots more boost of course).

1.8 VAG engine into Elise is a common transplant being carried out by a guy in the old stable business units at Oulton Park.
As it is local to me I have been meaning to go down and have a look at what he is doing to see if it could be readily applied to the Corse.....

It's a compact unit John, so I don't see why not in theory.
