My old Hawk Stainless 2.0L Exhaust converted to V6 with matching Mild steel link pipes and Lambda boss, painted with Black satin. Done approx 15k miles, link pipes about 18 months.

Needs Flanges / ends to suit your standard manifolds. These have been cut off as I need them for my new system.

Reasonably quiet when taking it easy (past plod ;) ) but lovely when giving it some.

£100 to a good home. :)
Collect from Nottingham or poss meet up on my travels in the next few weeks.

Rob,

At that price, I'd definitely be interested. How long are you willing to hold onto it? I'm contemplating a trip over again this spring/summer, and could collect it then. Otherwise, I'll need a shipping estimate overseas.

Does it still have all of the attachment points to mount it to the Hawk chassis? Any obvious holes or cracks?

Hi Scott
You're welcome to it. I was wanting to get it out of the way but I can hang on until the summer if you want. As you say it's got to be worth that to someone, I couldn't bear thinking of just throwing it out. Not sure how you'd get it in your hand luggage though !!!

Absolutely no cracks, still excellent condition. I'm only making a new one to suit the 24v more and get everything tucked away underneath.
I'd think most of the wadding has gone, but still gets through scrutineering at around 100dB. As I said it just burbles along lovely at low revs too.

The standard Hawk mountings on the box are still perfect. It needs new rubber mounting Bobbins and it'll need a couple of chassis brackets making up for these to sit on. (I've re used these on my new exhaust along with the manifold flanges. you can probably see them on the other thread with my new box's on.
The ball joints are still tight too, I just welded some nuts on to put springs on in case they loosened up but they never did and they are still gas tight.

All-in-all still very usable, with a very small amount of work you could save yourself a fortune.

Rob,

If you want to clear the space, I suppose we could look into shipping it. I'd probably need to box it up to carry it back as excess baggage - I doubt I have a suitcase large enough. Can you give me rough overall dimensions so I can check?

I think cutting the link pipes off forward of the flex joint might make it a little more compact. I need to add catalytic converters anyway (because of USA emissions), so between that and the missing flanges, they'll probably need a major rework to fit my car. The silencer is the bit I'm most interested in getting hold of.

Remember on Hawk silencer that the outer casing is just tack welded on so that it can be easily removed for re-packing. The inner case needs to have windows cut.

Chris - I'll definitely keep that in mind if it needs repacking! Odds are that I'd use as is unless it fails inspection.

Rob - forgot to ask about the mounting bobbins you mentioned. Are those a standard exhaust part, or something that Hawk supplied when you bought the exhaust system?

They're available from factors - standard parts.

Brian,

The hawk and the corse are both designed for competition use. as long as they are built to the correct spec then they will be fine. ;)

Hiya
As John says, yes they're quite up to the job. Most of the important spec is up to you anyway. There are people with both types of cars competing, and have been for some time.

The biggest problem you'll face will be the K37 rule changes and the Log Book process. (do a search on K37 on here) The Hawk has an MSA cage certificate but would probably need modding to the latest spec and door bars adding. The low volume production route may be the answer to the K37 changes, but no-one has taken the bull by the horns and tackled that yet.

If you can get through that and have the finances (Hawk front end bodywork £1k  ) and can bear the the thought of wrecking your pride and joy, then hats off to you mate :) We'd love to see you out there, you'd get loads of support from the club.

Personally, No, I can't afford to do it properly now, or wreck the car it's taken me since a kid to finally get  (however the red mist does get hold of me now and again :D ) so I stick to a few sprints and selected events to have a play nowadays, usually smooth tarmac. The bottom section at Chatsworth being the exception. Seeing the 911 wrapped around a tree reminded me to be a bit more careful though!

Hi Scott
You'd need a box 20" x 10" x 31" or maybe a fraction bigger with some padding. I couldn't weigh it yet as Mrs Sando was in.... ;) :D

Rob !

If Scott later on decides not to take it - I could be interrested.

As with Scott, I'd probably have to pick it up next time I cross the sea.
So far, I haven't even ordered the kit from Hawk. But I'm trying to collect all donor parts in advance. (And doing pretty good......)

But, that's only if Scott changes his mind - and if you are going to have it lying at yours until it is possible for me to pick it up.

Hiya
Scott is still up for it at the moment, I need get round to weighing it and look at postage costs. :o
If Scott does change his mind due to the postage then you are next in line, but I would like to get it out of the way as soon as I can to free up some space in the Garage.

Thanks
Rob
