Well boys & girls,
I can now reveal what has taken the place of my Strat.
It's currently in 'Phase 1' of preparation.
De-bumpered, number plate & front sidelights replaced, harnesses in and tripmeter fitted.
Thats sufficient for the coming weekend 'practice' run. Then after the weekend, it's booked into the paint shop for a full repaint in Rosso Corsa with Black Bonnet & Boot, New 'classic' seats and hopefully, a set of HF alloys to finish it off. :)
All that before the first real championship event at the end of February. But then you all know by now that I dont like to let the grass grow under my feet. :p
You'll see I kept faithfull to Lancia after all. ;)

Nice one Mick! A lovely looking car. Will it have a Cage?

Hi John,
I've got to look into fitting a cage. It's not mandatory in the historic clubmans although I'd prefer to have one obviously. Problem is, the rules state that you have to retain all the original interior trim including rear seats. They can be cut to make room for a cage but I'd hate it to become untidy and impractical.
We'll see.

Now thats a classy little motor there Mick !
My wife will be jealous if she sees it!!, she saw one just like yours at Goodwood in early 2007 and was very taken with it. I've always fancied one myself but the Fanalones' are rare as rocking horse poo and a bit too much £££.
Still, good to see that your staying true to the "Blue Shield of Assurance" marque :D

Well Bernard, I suppose the Notts. chapter could get together in the near future. Are you coming to France with us? I'm going to book some rooms today. :)
Matt, I suppose it's a coincidence, but the car was at Goodwood 2007. The previous owner showed me some pictures. ;)

There's a nice one here Matt:

They're definitely high on the 'if you didn't have a Stratos what would you have instead' list. S2 interior on both Mick's and this silver one is so much nicer than the late Fulvias?

Very nice Mick!
Brings back lots of memories, my brother had a 1300 when I was a lad.

I actually looked at the silver one and spent a long time pondering over whether to buy it or not. I decided in the end that it was too much money for what I wanted to use the car for. Basically, too nice for my purposes. Shame that the advert doesn't mention the split in the head lining and the torn seat though :( but still a nice car.
In the end, I'm happy that I got a car that has had a lot of restoration and mechanical service done by Omicron, only had 2 owners from new with a full service history and I paid a fraction of the price too :D
Hey Ho, some days you're just in the right place at the right time.

I suppose it gives you more scope to make the white one exactly how you want it Mick?
It never occured to me before someone mentioned it, but the engines have two long and two short inlets and alternate long and short exhaust ports. Even Lambdas had narrow angle V4s, so it wasn't as if it was the first of that type of engine for Lancia?

Nice car Mick, very classy.
I've replaced my stratos too, (except I couldn't bring myself to sell it so it is in mothballs in the garage for a while). So have to play with this instead:

Very nice Dave,
Only problem with the Elise/Exige though. I cant get in or out of them anymore. My son has the Elise and, unless the roof is off, I can't get near it. You're obviously more flexible than me. :D

Now that wouldn't really be right John. It's not an HF, it's only a Rallye S

I'd love to have a chat with you at some point about the car, my current plan is to get a similar car (ie one I can afford now, with 4 seats but more interesting than a mondeo). My wife likes the look of a Fulvia, so it could be a contender a bit later in the year. Tanc Barrett is quite close to me so I have good access to spares etc, but I have very little knowledge of the fulvia, so can you recommend any good books / websites to get me started? Also, what series do you race / compete in? I might try to catch you in action as I now have a bit more free time.
Thanks, Russell.

Hi Russell,
I'm planning to do selected rounds of the HRCR Clubmans championship, the HRCR 100 series and possibly a couple of HERO events too + Norwich Union Classic tour etc.
The seem to be a few cars about for sale regularly but, from the ones I looked at, they either tended to be 'basket cases' or very good/restored.
The 1.6HF's tend to fetch top money, around £10-£12,000 and many of them seem to be LHD too.
The 1.3 'S' seems to be good value for money (hence the reason for my choice) and aren't that much slower once you get the V4 twin cam on song.
Information, well you can look here http://www.alma.it/vanzettip/fulvia/fulviae.html
and if you are looking for a car, spares or just good advice, try here http://www.lanciaclassic.com/
or, of course, talk to Andrew at Omicron. I've found them very knowledgeable and helpful for things I've needed. :)
Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I've fired a few emails around to see what project cars are about, I can either buy a sorted car later this year (and probably pull it to pieces to get it how I want it) or get a project car now and sort it myself, the advantage being I can afford a project car now, and I've already got a big space in the garage!!
Thanks, Russell
