All,

Front loom in and rear one in also. All the engine cabling done, but can't make head nor tail of how the power is supposed to run. Rereading gets me more confused!!

1. Battery +ve to one side of the switch. On its own nothing else attached.

2. On the other side of the switch.
Cable to the Starter solenoid stud.
And make a connection to the red power cables that are within the engine loom

Now I am confused.....
1. A cable from the B+ stud on the alternator to the stud on the Starter Motor. Yes ??

2. Gerry's notes talk about a 'red power' cable running with the centre harness. Does this mean connect the supplied thick power cable to the isolated stud on the distribution board to the isoltor switch Starter connection?

Is that all is required?

Also, it looks like the isolator switch will be a tight fit in and around the rear of the handbrake. Is this so or is there a better position for it??

Thanks in advance

Iain

Just a suggestion..... but at this stage of the build i would start thinking about putting in extra relays.... its easier to do it now !

Hi Iain,

My isolator switch came with three cables already connected:

* one single thick red cable ( on its own at the switch ) runs to the positive pole of the battery.

* on the other side of the switch are two red cables, a thick one and a slightly thinner one.
The thick one runs to the starter selenoid 8mm stud.
The thinner one along the centre chassis rails of the car to the front. There it is conected to the isolated stud on the distribution board, to provide power to the ignition switch and the fuse box.

* There is also a single brown cable that runs from youre B+ on the alternator to the stud on the starter selenoid.

* my switch is mounted about 15 cm above the handbrake in the rear bulkhead ( see pic ). You can just see the thinner red power cable running along the centre of the car to the front left below in the picture.

Hope this helps?

Just a little note about master switches. I 'm sure that for competition both the driver and co driver have to be able to operate the switch while seated and strapped in. Also there has to be a method of deactivation from the outside of the car by a third party.
