Is this how the clamp part should go together?
My build manuel is rather old & doesn't seem to have a drawing showing this part. Has the manuel been updated since 1989?

The Graham Bates/Transformer drawing lists and shows two "E" rings, and they are at either end of the aluminium part as far as I can see.
What you've got looks like the drawing though. The alloy knurled wheel/nut will be closer to the bottom (the thickness of the window) obviously. The big wheel should be tight and turn with the threaded steel stud, and not come undone from it (but often it does).

Thanks Chris
The centre shaft only has one e-ring at the end, the shouldered nut seems to be prevented from moving to far in by the long ali shaft that goes through the window. Seems to work!

On the same subject; I know this might seem obvious, but make sure you've got screw heads that are countersunk and a smidge slightly below flush on the radius guide channel fasteners. Otherwise you'll have scratches on the back of the black hand wheel. Too late to sort that problem on mine, but I will.

Found this whole assembly too rigid on my car. There wasn't enough movement in the shaft to allow the back of the lockwheel to run flush with the doorplate all the way up and down. I eventually gave up with it and opened the hole in the window up, fitted a large rubber grommet in it with a long bolt through it to the lockwheel. The bolt is held in place with a tabwasher to stop it revolving and a nyloc to stop it moving too much. It's worked for the last 15 years and the lockwheel slides easily with a quarter turn.

Having now fitted the slider I was think along the same lines, but thought that the window may flap about with two rubber mounts. I think I'll stick with it for now & see how it goes.
PS the pencil trick worked a treat, if I had cut the slot in the door card where the scribed marks are it would have been way out.
Cheers
Brent.

On closer inspection there should be two e-clips so thanks for pointing that out.

Brent - forgot to mention that the assembly has two big washers either side of the grommet, the nyloc isn't fully tightened down but will allow a little flexing. Doesn't need much. Fiddly bit is getting the bolt to just the right length so the windows seal properly when shut. Gerrys door moulds have improved over the years, the slot is now a little tighter which has improved the fit enormously. Come see my passenger side compared to drivers side one day!

I've now rubber mounted the the slider mechanism using the existing parts with a rubber washer ether side of the window, much better action. I also put a large washer under the hand wheel to give better clearance for the screws on the slider plate.
Bob Pilot told me that they use to make up another slider plate to fit on the inside of the door to make the window run better, has anyone else had to do this?
