Is there a problem with registration for new forum members. My car is now sold and the buyer is keen to register on the forum but is having difficulty. Here is an extract from the message he sent me, Does anyone know what the problem is

"I think I know why I cant post on the Stratos Forum. I dont think that I will be the only one either.
When one registers an email is sent to 'stratos@supersite.co.uk' (or whatever) automatically. This in turn should generate a reply which will guide one thru the final stages of joining the site thus enabling one to post and start threads.
I re-sent my application last nite. This morning I got a note from my ISP that the message had failed to get thru and so had been returned...the e-mail address or the recipient being at fault.
I was wondering whether you had another e-mail, maybe of a moderator, who could assist me or whether you know how to contact the site manager to sort out this problem?"

Hi Roger

Yeah I had problems with registration but couldn't get in touch with anyone.
I figured it was something to do with me originally signing up using my hotmail email account (which has happend before).
Sure enough when I re-signed up with my work email all was well.

Maybe worth a try if your man has access to another email addy

Cheers

Thanx Ginger,

That did the trick !
As Roger mentioned, his car has been sold and I am the lucky chap who has bought it. She will soon be on her way to her new home in Southgate, North London.
I have joined the Stratclub and so you lot are stuck with me for the foreseeable future! :)

Hi Chris, can you please contact Carol and John Bouncefield (Bouncer) on the forum as they have not been able to log onto the forum so far.
Carol asked me to help.
I cannot see Bouncer in the list of registered users, but I could not create a new user called bouncer, But, on one occasion I did see bouncer online, but at that point Carol was trying to reply to a message and was told she did not have rights. Got same error when trying to start a thread.

It looks to me kike the account has not completed correctly.
BTW - Carol registered using an AOL email.

Could you please look into this matter on my and Carols behalf.

Cheers

Tim

AOL was my problem too. Suggest to them that they use their ISP provided e-mail address.

Seems to be a problem with Hotmail and AOL email addresses.
If in doubt, try another address.

Cheers Chris. Will speak to Carol.

BTW - this issue could be down to the crappy old version of vbulletin software currently on the server. We seem to be using vBulletin Version 3.0.1, but the latest seems to be 3.6.8 (patch2). Upgrading may also get the calendar working again.

I assume that DW is the only chap who can sort an upgrade of the software.

Cheers
