should the injection pump have a relay fitted or is there one in the power distribution board of the Hawk HF 3000,

Yes it should, as they can draw quite a hight current.
Not sure about the loom. I had to add one to mine as it was an early loom without relays for anything !

The fuel pump relay is in the engine loom,the one marked with the red cross, i think

IIRC the relay with the red cross is the motronic system control relay (and contains a Diode), the fuel pump relay is a normal relay, and I seem to remember that it has pink cables supplying it!
The Corse loom has a seperate relay for the fuel pump if you want to control it independently of the engine management, so you have a choice. Not sure of the Hawk loom of course.

Thought the one with the cross was the motronic relay (with the diode inside). The one adjacent to it on the bonnet slam panel is the one that was connected to the fuel pump when I got the car. That's not to say they hadn't been swapped over by mistake though.

Yes I think you are right on that ,I did mix them up when I came to chop & reconnect the engine loom.....
