You know the frame type lift that lies flat on the floor under a car, and then rises up lifting the car rto about a metre? Who makes them? There have beena couple on fleaBay for about £1000 recently. Frost used to sell them but don't now. Garage just not wide enough for a 2-post lift.

Machine Mart.
That's what I thought, but they only list bike lifts on the website.

Try here - they may have UK agents? (http://www.kwiklift.com/)
Have you considered a four post hydraulic lift? I managed to squeeze one into my garage! It does help with maintenance as I can get to the underside easily enough and working at the back on suspension is pretty simple. It's tighter at the front though, there are piers there. The real reason I installed on was to allow me to put 2 cars in a single garage though. Tight fit!
I think it cost about £600 delivered and installed, had to make it about 6" narrower and get new cables made but who'd want to use old cables anyway! It's an old 3 phase fitted with a converter. I also considered a 2 post lift but eventually decided against it as it meant too much shuffling the car back and forwards to swing the arms under the short wheelbase.

I'd rather have a chassis lift than one with wheel ramps to get in the way.

Chris,
I just bought one of those Bike Lifts from Machine Mart and 2 Dollies (8" Wheels) (All for less than £300) which allows me to get the car safely held 400mm above the ground, on frames no wider than the shell, and I can move it around in the garage easily. Why not pop over one night and see the set up? My Alitalia Car's on them right now whilst I'm fitting a new Exhaust...

The one I got had an option on a pair of rails that sat on top of the ramp bed. Once the car was lifted into place part of the crossbeams could be locked to the four posts and with the rails suitably placed under the chassis the ramp bed could be dropped to the floor. Didn't take the option as it needed clearance behind the post to lock the mechanism off and two of the posts were too tight against the wall.

Who made your exhaust Nico?

I didn't say I had the Exhaust yet.....
I'm toying between getting 2-3 made locally (Need one to fit and a spare!) or buying 3 from Gerry in the slim hope of a volume discount. Do you need one? Could be the basis of a consortium purchase?? I think a bulk purchase of 5-10 would make a massive difference to the price.... N/

I'm having a complete system made from stainless in two weeks time that will fit the gta or probably any other 24v. Spec is new plasma cut flanges, long tubular headers with pukka merge collectors, 42mm primaries and 60mm secondaries with equal tube lengths.
I dare say it could be fitted on to a round port shape ala 12v?, not sure if the port spacings are the same though?

I'd need to be sure the dBa level was going to be OK.
I didn't think that there was much wrong with the 24v tubular manifolds, so wouldn't be keen to go to the expense of replacing them.
What price have you been quoted John?
