Well actually no, it's that other mid engined low volume produced car. The one that the MSA will let you use:

It's a shame. That's the sort of event Stephen and Chris R. could have been doing? What is it that makes the Darrian ok?

I suspect it's the fact that they've been around for as long as I can remember, and that's longer than I care to admit. As such, the MSA have the attitude that 'well they've always been OK so why should that change now'
Unfortunately, whether it's ignorance or an unwillingnes to be educated, the rest of 'kit car' competitors seem to be treated as the poor relations and as such, obviously insignificant to the sport.
Just my two penneth.

It's because they are classed as a low volume competition car producer not a kit car manufacturer. Despite the fact the materials and workmanship I would say is on a par with anything we've got. They are seen as purpose built competition cars nowadays even though they may have come from more humble beginnings. It would be interesting to find out more about their history too. Anyone got any knowledge of the early days. I think it was Davrian? before Darrian?
The recent Rally show showed us and our cars in a very good light though, so lets not be to derisery on here. It was all very positve comments and the people that were making them are all involved in the sport at high levels both historic and modern. Whilst I don't agree just as much as everyone else at the way the rules and rallying in general, is changing, we need a bit of a reality check.

Let's be positive chaps, that's the sort of event Stephen and Chris R. could be doing next year.
If Perez can run his Stratos and Darrians are allowed there is no reason a Stratos replica can not run too. All that is required is a group effort, including manufactures. I'm off to dig up an old thread somwhere.
