Hello
I was wondering if someone could give me some idea on prices for a Stratos Replica
The idea would be to get a part built car or one that perhaps just needs some TLC. I know it’s like saying how long is a piece of string but any info would help at this stage
Many Thanks
Chris

You might get one for as little as £4000, but between £5000 and £8000 is more likely.
What you really need is a lot of patience. They don't come up for sale very often these days and are snapped up very quickly when they do.
The complete cars take a little longer to sell, because not as many people can afford them. It's as simple as that.

Based on my recent experience, I'd agree with Chris J's estimates. Before I bought my new kit from Hawk cars, I had been looking for a secondhand car or unfinished kit for a couple of years. I found a range of prices, depending on the condition of the car.
1) HF2000 kit, former Melfyn Rees car. Incomplete, poor condition, based on photos I'd seen - sold quickly at £4000. Anybody know what became of this car?
2) HF2000 kit, formerly Chris Pollard, currently Chris Richards. 95% complete (previous owner's estimate), but MOT'd and road legal. Fair condition, based on current owner's comments (please feel free to correct me, Chris). Lingered for about a year at £7000, but eventualy sold at around that price.
3) HF2000, formerly Don Bunn, currently Panos Panayiotou. Complete car built to fairly high standard. Good condition, needed a few small items repaired. Originally listed at £13000, reduced to £10000 by the time I inquired. Don't know what Panos eventually paid.
4) HF2000 / 3000, formerly Gary Campbell's car. Not sure who owns it now. Car was in process of being converted from Lancia 2-litre to Alfa 3-litre power. Complete and roadworthy prior to conversion. Condition unknown. Offered at £10000, included 2 Alfa engines, new wiring loom, and numerous spares. Don't know what it sold for.
Price estimates for new kits and 3-litre conversions are listed in another thread. Hope this is of some help to you.
Best of luck in your search, and welcome aboard!

Car went to Gerry Manalo who was getting on pretty well last time I saw him - he may well be at Abingdon but I have lost touch with him recently.

I got it for £6800. The Lancia twincam was using the same emulsion for cooling and lubrication!:( . The engine went in the bin. The car was not the spec I want to end up with, but comparing the cost / hassle of a new kit/sourcing bits/registration etc., this was a good cheap way to start. It now has an Alfa 24v V6 mostly installed, and I'm redoing suspension, brakes, and lots other beside. I reckon I'm about £14k down the road in total, and a fair bit to go yet - paintwork, wheels & tyres, seats & belts being the obvious major items still to be added.

Don't know if he has yet come up with an asking price, but I believe that Rowland Casebourne is considering selling his car.
This is a complete and roadgoing HF3000 (formerly an HF2000, with 12v V6 conversion), with the rounded Group 4 arches, in blue/white/yellow colour scheme.
He competed in the sprint at Abingdon last year. Don't know if he's going to be along to spectate this year or not - I guess I should send him an email to find out and/or remind him of it.

Roland is planning to attend - he has a room booked for the Saturday night.

Gary Campbell's ex car is now in my garage. I paid 8k for the whole kit and caboodle.
