having taken some measurments from another car (thanks Tim) it would seem that the rear framework of my car is about 3" narrower at the back than normal with longer wishbones so a V6 won't fit.
has anyone got a car with 16v turbo engine i need to know:
from the centreline of the car what does it measure to the front(camwheels) of the engine and how far forward does the cylinder head sit from the rear upper crossmember ?
thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,
Mmm, how about some alternatives to the usual suspects then....Audi 1.8 turbo, Ford Duratec?? Focus RS motor & box??

I have suggested a Mazda RX7 motor

I am still thinking about that one I have found a twin turbo RX7 motor on ebay he will sell complete with turbos for er! £1800
I have also found a Hewland transaxle which should fit but that costs even more It would be a good set up but a bit pricey don't you think ! This is why I am looking for something a bit more wallet/wife friendly.

Is there a front wheel drive subaru?
Alfa boxer maybe? Were they front wheel drive? AH do stacks of hop up bits for these too.
Hows about posting up a pic or two of the engine bay?

What about a Cosworth Turbo mated to a Beta box?
There is one here in NZ.
I will see if I can find a picture
Cheers

There is a flat six Subaru. A certain Mr Catswhiskers may be able to help with some rough dimensions ;)

Subaru 4cyl engines (ie Impreza WRX turbo) can certainly be made to sound very un-Suabaru like with appopriate extractor and exhaust systems. My WRX had a lovely scream on boost that you'd never mistake for a boxer.
