Hello everyone.. My father and I bought a yellow 308 powered Stratos
around 2003. If you look at the threads of Oct 31, 2003 you will see some of the information that i had provided and everyone was helpful in telling me more. This car is for sale. It has the SPY 90 10 78 serial number. The owner we bought this from had poor health issues, but kept all receipts as to what was done. If anyone is interested, please let me know and i can answer all questions or get pics. We did not drive this car as much as we should and it needs a home with someone that will drive it.
It would be interesting if anyone knows the history before we bought it. It is now currently in Franklin, Pennsylvania, USA. It is yellow, but appears to have been red at one time. I believe it come from Europe, then to Canada, then to US.

Which county are you located in? There are four Franklins in Pennsylvania.

We are located in Venango County...
Zip code for Franklin is 16323..
It is in rural Pennsylvania, but we are about 1 hour from the Ohio border, 30 minutes from the intersection of I-79, and I-80..
I am planning on getting pictures today.

Bingo, you guys are good....
Some updates, (not as radical seats for one, but still have them)
some minor others, but otherwise same car.
Out of curiosity, how old is that email.... We bought the car in 2003... Thought the person we bought it from had it for maybe the same lenght of time or at least longer, so i am guessing that what you found came out in 1995 ??? or around there?

I have to modify the pics I have to only 100kb/each to post some...
If anyone would like them, please send email.. Just took about 8 of them, around 5mb..
Thanks
The car that was in Canada had no stickers, the person that we bought the car from put on a bunch, in which we have a couple left on.
But i would say it is the same car.

We are asking $45,000 for this car. I am working on getting updated pictures on this web site. If anyone would like pictures, please email and I will forward the ones we have. I will answer any questions to the best of my ability. I have numerous receipts on what was done to the engine in which I can provide on request.
Thanks

Mike says:
It is US street legal in all 50 states to the best of my knowledge. But we are in rural Pennsylvania and do not have to deal with most city regulations. But I think it would be "grandfathered" in since it is not a new production. In Pennsylvania we have to get our cars "inspected" every year for road use which it had been every year. Other states do not have this.
here's some pics :)

Just one tank then?

Affirmative.... one small tank compared to my gas guzzling american truck!

Just one tank then?
There's more room to feed the standard 308 air oil cooler, on a 308. 'Bit tight in a Stratos engine bay. 246 has an exchanger, doesn't it?
'Looks like Colin's 308 engined car is dry sumped:

There goes another fuel tank space?
'Not sure if it's cooled also?

Would you mind giving me some info regarding how it's titled and registered? Does it have a special construction title, or is it titled as another model?
Looks like you've got classic plates on it - that would explain why it doesn't get full inspection.

We received it as being registered as a 1975 Lancia Stratos. This is what the car title says.
Not sure about full inspections etc. But we have had it inspected every year. Being from rural PA not sure if all rules are the same or localized?? We do not have to get emissions check on any cars here.
THere was a comment on cooling.. I will have to verify, but i do believe there are two sets of radiators in the front. The reason i think this is because there are two toggle switches that operate two seperate fan controls.

Yes it is absurd, but i guess with bringing it into the US, the department of motor vehicles will believe anything you tell them... Anyway, it was before my time, a neat trick to get the classic plates i guess. It actually makes it easier for people in the US.

Another for Tryphon's list of fakes!

Fakes are practically indistinguishable from the real thing.
I guess this is not the case for this one...

Please note that I have never stated that this car is anything but a replica. The registration was done in Florida, and with the true rareity of this type of car, they probably put down what they were told. But again, i am not inferring in any way that this is something that it is not. If you read my emails from 2003, you will agree that it was at this site that I had asked as to what the origin was.

Don't worry Mike, I wasn't having a go at you. :) I was referring to a European issue of fake cars being passed off as genuine Stratos - we know you're not trying to do that!

Mike,
I've been speaking to a fellow in Canada who'd like to talk to you about your car. Can you send me your contact info so I can forward it to him?
I'll send you a PM with his e-mail address if you'd prefer to contact him directly.

Mike,
Is the car still for sale? I know of another party looking for a Stratos replica in the USA.
Knowing your asking price, I'll ask them what kind of budget they had in mind before putting them in touch with you.
