Would be nice to see, but are such "super cars" allowed in historic rallying ? I thought three was certain cars not allowed and the Stratos was one of them ?? Hopefully I am wrong again !
Gerard.

Steve,
Sorry to hear about your mechanical problems at the weekend.
You could try Christian Hrabalek at info@stratos4sale.com
www.classicscars.com have a 1976 Gp4 ex Tony Fassini car. They also have a standard road car but I don't know what year it is.
Marcel Roks Consultants sometimes have cars. Their website is www.mroks.com, and they have some Stratos listed in their list of cars expected.
I'm not sure if the car at www.lanciastratos.de has been sold now, because the website has disappeared, but you could try emailing stratos@lanciastratos.de
I presume you want a pre-75 car so that you can stay in the Post-Historic class, and avoid the Classic Challenge class? That way you would avoid the need to conform to the homologation rules, which would apply to a post-74 car.
Problem with trying to find a pre-75 car, is that the Stratos did not receive homolgation until October 74, and so most of the cars sold were not registered until 75 onwards. Pre-75 there were only the works cars, and a very, very few customer cars. Some cars didn't even get registered until about 78/79.
By the way, Ray Bellm has been making similar enquiries.

Why should the Stratos be excluded if full-house Gp4 Escorts are allowed?

The problem at the weekend was brain was disengaged and engaged 2nd instead of 4th I don’t think there is anything in the rules to prevent use of any car as long as it was used in that period. I also have to check the rules you may be able use a run on year if the car was produced in the period. I hope so as I think it would be great for historic rallying. There is no problem in the Classics, but at the moment the are few entries and not so competitive, and it would be nice to see something giving the BDA’s run for their money. Interesting that Ray is thinking along the same lines. Thanks for the info. Do they make an Auto box?!

I think the problem with the Classics this year, is that they announced it so close to the start of this season, that it didn't give anyone time to prepare for it. It should really have been announced about August/September 2002, instead of at the Autosport Show. First I knew about it was when I got Old Stager.
AND, as the cars have to run to period homolgation rules, many escorts, chevettes, TR7s etc will need modifying back to period to be able to run in the category.
Classic Challenge 2004 will hopefully have many more competitors.
