This weekend, 17th, 18th and 19th May 2002 is quite a busy weekend for Stratos competition.

Graham Scott is in Northern France at the Croix-en-Ternois race circuit competing in the Le Mans Auto Italia Race Championship. He currently leads his class in the championship, and lies 2nd in the overall championship. A good result at the 2 races held over the weekend could propel Graham into the overall lead of the championship.

Gary Lomas is in Belgium for the Monteburg Rallysprint. This is held over closed public roads, on stages which are also used for the Ypres Rally later in the year. Every year hordes of UK rally crews head out to this event to do battle with their european counterparts. The event is an excellent social weekend with many top british and european drivers competing.

David Watson is staying home in England to compete at the Brook Motorsport Stages at Longcross. This is a tarmac single venue rally, and is a round of the ACSMC Stage Rally Championship.

We hope to have reports from all these events on the website for you early next week.

Well, I haven't heard yet how Graham Scott did at the weekend, but it was a dismal weekend for both myself, and Gary Lomas.

Gary and co-driver, Bob Ashley, were forced to retire at Monteburg after hitting a concrete gatepost and ripping off the front suspension.

Myself and co-driver, Andrew Stacey, retired on the 2nd stage at Longcross, after snapping a driveshaft.

The joys of rallying!!!!

Better luck next time. I know how you feel because I've been through it myself many times.
Cheers.

Just got an update on Graham Scott from last weekend.

There were 2 races in his championship- 1 on the Saturday, and 1 on the Sunday.

Graham retired from the Saturday race with a broken driveshaft (I know how that feels!!)

Sunday was much more successful with Graham winning the race outright, and moving himself into the class lead in the championship.

Pictures and reports will appeaar on the website soon.

David,

I presume that you will have replaced your driveshaft already.

Do you know if Gary is making any progress on fixing/replacing his suspension/bodywork - hopefully in time for Abingdon?

John,

It wasn't one driveshaft it was two!!! That's why we couldn't drive out of the stage. Anyway, it's all fixed now.

By the way, thanks for being there for moral support last weekend. It was good to have you around, and I hope you enjoyed yourself.

Gary has most of his damage repaired already. He has a rally in France next weekend. So he has to get through that as well before Abingdon.
