Looking to pick up a better final drive ratio for my car. It's currently got a 2.94:1 which is absurd. I've got a decent 3.11 set (and another gearbox with 3.11:1 in it) but figure if I'm going to be stripping it (again), then something like a 3.4:1 sounds more like it for me. Anyone???

FWIW, the Thema box I had (which was with a turbo motor but could be anything) was yet another 2.94:1 (53:18 CW:P) and wasn't in very good order, so that one's gone clang into the metal scrap bin at the local tip.

Chris,
How much would it cost to get a set made Ie 3.9:1 or similar. Club consortium project maybe??

Hi Gary,
Is that a price for a close ratio box kit or just the final drive?

cheers

Bacci made me a short ratio center diff for my previous Integrale some 16 years ago. Very good quality.

Hello Steven
yes the cr kit is 3500 the final drive was 650 euros gone up now to 800 I think I will check my last email on work computer , they did say that the final drives produce more noise (straight cut ).At the moment I have a 3.9 fd 2.5 v6 gearbox to be fitted (3.9) but a spare 6 speed 3.2 gta gearbox to play around with .
I expect first and second to be odd but will give it a go and take it from there .
If we ordered 10 final drives though as you say ,shall I ask on the clubs behalf on Monday ?

Way beyond what I intend spending chaps. I'm more in the £50 for a gearbox bracket.

Glad I could help to make your life complete Chris :D

I got a reply from Bacci romano 10% discount on 10 orders , more discount on twenty
3.9 4.4 ratios.unit price before discount 840 euro.
no used items available .I got my lsd from Adie at AH motorsports and he put me on to Bacci. I reckon that when I try the present gearbox 2.5 3.9 fd I might require another bit for the car ,anyone object to a non period rothmans livery a la 911 SCRS ?

Gary,
off topic I know, but did you not have a Vauxhall lump in that car?
What has become of it?

Hi John, the vauxhall engine is still there up with the car
I have a manta shell that I was hoping to put the engine into and sell but the plans are have changed so much because of the delays with the engine swap ,plus this whole thing about log booking ,I go hot and cold about the stratos because it is not a proper replica it is a competition build that may have no competitive class or final value that matches the investment ,so it is almost that i am committed to going the whole hog in terms of gearboxes final drives etc even though they are prohibitively expensive
I think now I would have been better off with a replica that i could have enjoyed every weekend.
I had a straight cut gearbox in the car to go with the vauxhall engine but it was uncomfortably noisy and did 15 MPG driving at 50 mph .
So It may be that the stratos would be finished and I will have sell it rather than destroy it in a series of rallys, and stick to the manta for now .

Not good enough Gary :p

I am being particuarly objectionable this week :) Next week I'll be better.

Please please dont sell the Strat - Log book it and come out to play. I promise to join you next year :)

Off topic again but that'll be three replicas that could be log booked next year, hope the alarm bells don't go off at MSA HQ.(then again I hope they do, would be nice to know for sure if a stratos replica can go rallying)
