I see there's some proper wheels behind the car (against the wall).

I wonder how much Roberto Casetta was involved in this car - he should know better. But, then again, the current/previous owner may have insisted upon that livery.

I have never really looked too closely at the Hawk wheels to tell the difference - can someone plz enlighten me.

Tim,
The depth of the part of the wheel between the spokes is more shallow on a Hawk wheel than on a Campagnolo. I'm guessing this is a design to allow more room for larger brakes than would be possible with the original wheels? That's if that part of the wheel on a Campagnolo actually invades that hub/disc/caliper space? I'm not sure? Anyhow, that's the bit I notice straight away.

It's more noticable on the narrower rim design than the 12". Another feature of the original coffin spoke is the machined or sharp 90 degree edges to each spoke web. The outer rim is slightly thicker in section too on the Hawk. This is standard practice for that manufacturer and it is a feature of their competition spec. wheels.

The Hawk rims are not lacking in quality though, and the design compromises are not at all obvious. They are heavy compared to magnesium, but very strong, I'm sure.

Eagle eyed Jarvis !!!!

Never even noticed Chris.... i simply purchased a copy of Retro Course in France and saw the ad !!

Maybe Tryphon knows a bit more about it ??

Also I have now noticed that on the shot of the back of the car it has a sticker of "Auvergne Motors".... anyone know anything about these people and where they are as my pension plan (farm house) is in the Puy de Dome which is part of the Auvergne

Cheers

It shouldn't matter to me if it had 2CV wheels and was painted pink with puple dots, but somehow it does?, and perhaps more now that that the collectors market for these cars is getting serious?

£100k for a Stradale seems to be the norm these days.
