Jeff mentioned in the side window thread putting some vents in his side screens (I assume) to increase airflow within the car.
The problem, from my experience, is not getting air into the car. With the steep rake of the side windows air naturally want to rush in, especially with both open. However, the real trick is persuading it to leave thus creating airflow around the cockpit.
One of the real serious problems we can suffer with is front screen misting up and staying damp in the rain. No matter how effective the fan and heater are the screen will not clear if all that we are doing is recirculating moist air.
Sometime this Summer I intend removing the fuel tanks to replace the balance pipe. This will give me access to the bulkhead in which I intend to cut a hole to allow air to escape, effectively depressurising the cockpit. Obviously this will have to be properly sealed to stop fumes etc coming back into the cockpit using a trap door of some sort and maybe even some sort of fan to help the air on it's way out.
In the meantime I will have to rely on the roof vent (effective) and the "periscope" vents that I attach to the tops of the doors (very effective)
