Yes, I've sat in the driver's seat. It took me nearly a minute to get in, and then I couldn't get out!

Yuk (Yukspeed) Hodgson had it for sale around 1998/99 time. It had an Astra engine north south on the Hewland box. Rear end hinged from the top and it had wheels and hubs off a Grp. A Sierra. Not one for the purist?

It's mentioned in issue 13 of the club newsletters from earlier in its life under the title of 'CORSA LIVES AGAIN'. It belonged to an Andy Kelly, it was built for rallying and at that time it had a Toyota twin cam engine on the Hewland box.

I believe it is now sold. The new owner has been on to Lionel requesting a few parts I believe I am right in saying.
I think it was originally built by a guy who worked for Steve Greenwood, in Steves workshop and was built as an out and out rally car.
I have a few more pictures of it if anyone wants to see. Perhaps we will be able to get the new owner on board here.

Hi

have just signed in as new member having just bought this car from north Wales The car had been sat in a shed for about 4 years ! I have started rebuilding the suspension and brakes and am also trying to source an engine, has anyone got a spare v6 24v alfa kicking around?
I will not be doing any work to the body yet , just want to get it running.
If anyone has any info on this car I would be very grateful.

Regards

Andy

Welcome to the club - the guys will look after you i'm sure. Plenty of threads on donor v6 vehicles :) use the search facility and it will give you some background. Probably better i would have thought for you to buy a donor car for the additional ancillaries for what you will pay. The lads will give you some pointers for sources of cars etc. Good luck with the rebuild and post us some pics.

Regards Steve.

Hi Andy, Have you joined the Stratos Enthusiasts Club or just this forum.

I am the SEC membership secretary, but have not got an application from you, so I guess you have just joined the forum to date.

I can strongly reccomend joining the SEC though, as you will get access to a lot of technical info not available anywhere else. We also get together for a good number of events throughout the year. Our next events are at Castle Coombe, Gaydon and Chatsworth - all this month.
Please check out our website - www.stratclub.com (http://www.stratclub.com) for more info. You can also download an application form.

Hope to hear from you.

Hi
Thanks for contacts. Yes I am looking for a 164 preferably 24v so if anyone knows of one for sale could you let me know. There were a few for sale lately on ebay/autotrader but they've all gone !
As for getting in and out of this car the roll cage does make it a challenge my girlfreind nearly ripped the fixed plastic window off the door trying too get out !
Also does anyone know the dimensions of the standard Corse shock absorbers as I'm not sure if the ones fitted too this car are standard size, I need a new set of Avo's and also what poundage rating springs is everyone using, the suspension on this car is very firm but I might keep it that way as I want to keep it as rally spec. (good idea yes/no).
Thanks in advance

Andy

Hi Andy,

My Corse runs on AVO's with the front springs at 350lb and the rears at 400lb. Regarding the actual dimensions, I'm sure Lionel Gooch will be able to supply that info as he supplied mine with the kit.

I saw this in PPC and thought it looked decent value.

i think i got a bit of a bargain however it does need a complete rebuild and the dashboard will have to be rebuilt from scratch and the car will have to be completely re-wired but I hope to have it running within the next few months,
i am located in northampton is there anyone nearby with a corse fitted with an alfa v6 that i could inspect and maybe take some pics to give me an idea as to what i am doing ?
thanks all

Andy

Andy, Good luck with the rebuild. If you're looking for Stradale (Non GP4) dash then I have a spare Hawk one, which I believe will fit...

Hi Andy, I have a V6 Corse just south of Milton Keynes. Please PM me with your contact details and maybe I could run up to you next Sunday. I have a new ECU map in the car, but not tried it yet.

Cheers

Tim

I fitted a Hawk dash to my Corse S....but it does require some minor mods to the chassis in the centre of the dash area to clear the 'swoop' of the moulding. AFAIK, the chassis on both S & I is basically the same forward of the rear bulkhead.

Andy,
Are you planing to rally your Corse? If so you need to be aware of the difficulties in getting a MSA log book for a Corse or Hawk with a 3L 24 valve engine.
Chris Richard could help you here.
Good luck with the rebuild

it's really just for track days and anything else i can do with a sprint licence however having taken some measurements it would seem an alpha v6 will not fit ! the rear framework is about 3" narrower than a standard corse
got to sort out something else
car does have a MSA certificate already but dated 1992 how long do they last ?

to be honest I am not sure Andy but in view of the fact you are changing engine and maybe the layout I think a new Log book would be required for stage rallying however sprints are held under different rules so you should be fine. How about a transverse red top vauxhall engine and box. I think 200bhp is readily available for small cost and you would have a significant less weight.
