Has anyone on here ever removed a Fiat 124 ignition switch from the column?
I've undone the fasteners, and the steering lock isn't on (key in), but it still doesn't want to come out?

Chris,
I have an X19 column here but from memory the 124 column is similar. There is a screw at about the 3 o'clock position on the side of the lock holding case that needs to be removed. After that the key needs to be inserted and turned and a pin (located at about the 11 o'clock position) can be pushed in. That will allow the lock mechanism to be pulled out.
Hope that that helps.
Gene

Thanks Gene,

It was a case of pushing a spring loaded part through a small oval hole on the side of the column casing.

Anyhow, it worked.

Actually, if I'd looked at this helpful link that Guy posted a while back, I would have known what to do:

This switch repair article will help me figure out if one of the 124 switches I have is faulty, or not. I think this was a problem that Guy had a while back?
