I have not been able to get insurance for my trailer.

Companies with whom I do not have any other insurance (e.g. Frizzell) say sorry we only do it if your car or house is insured with us.
My car and house insurers don't do it at all.
Can anyone give me some names of insurance companies who will be more obliging please.

Thanks, Alan.

Never had insurance for any of my trailers, When attached to your car you are normally covered third party for any damage it may cause.( Provided its legal and oin road worthy nick) The value of most secondhand trailers are such that paying for cover against theft is not really justifyable in my mind. However I do live in a relatively theft free part of the country.
Have you tried asking a trailer centre? or phoning some of the big trailer companies? Brian James - Ivor Williams etc.

Alan, I think you may struggle with this one.

In the past I have been told by insurance companies that they will only insure a trailer if it is stored inside a secure building when not in use. i.e. Garage or workshop etc etc, which lets face it is not very practical. You could secure a trailer to the foundations of your house with battleship chains they just wont touch them, as they keep being pinched. (We lost two Brian James trailers even though they had wheel clamps and were chained to a Port-a-cabin)

I believe Chris Smith also had one knicked even though it was clamped and chained !!..
I tried to insure my trailer with lots of companies but the premiums where extortionate suprisingly !
therefore i don't have any insurance on my trailer.

Thanks Gents

My trailer will be stored at a "secure" ??? storage place (caravans & / or cars) so the chains won't reach my house. I wonder what they could do for me there though.

Could always check Competition Car Insurance, but I suspect you'll have similar problems to that already described.

However, if you insure your car with them, they can offer cover for trailer and tools/race equipment as part of a package. Don't know about exclusions though (i.e. trailer only covered if fitted with wheelclamps, hitch-lock, and - ooh, maybe a Tracker device...)

Thanks John, will give them a try.

A pal at work suggested Towergate Hall & Clarke to me today.
They have quoted me a gnats under £200 for a £3.5k trailer but must have wheel lock and hitch lock. No tracker there.

Regards, Alan.
