Help!! Was refitting my column and the shaft has pulled out of the housing spilling the top ball bearings out.. I can't see how the thing is actually held in so is it supposed to be able to pull out?? Or is it fooked? See below

Can't help on that one Al. My x19 shaft has what look like oilite bronze bushes/bearings moulded into a stiff rubber housing which is then pressed into the column outer. Only thing that holds my inner shaft in is the uj on the intermediate shaft butting up against the bottom bearing

Hi John, Once it's connected to the inter shaft then it'll go no where!! Just thought as a stand alone unit it would support itself??

The column stalks and steering wheel, once fitted holds everything 'in' at the top end. The inter shaft and uj stops it sliding out too. Just clean the bearings and regrease, then fit it. :)
