Does anyone have closeup images of the switches that goes on the instrument panel ?

I need them for communicating with one that might have some of them.

No offence intended but why are the clocks set at the angle? regards Martin

My tacho is at an angle so that I can see the relevant bit through the wheel. Don't know why the other would be squint though.

Got this picture from the net from a Stradale car for sale some time ago. Suppose the owner turned then a bit

Hi Pimms,

Do you have any other pics from that stratos dash that you could post please, as they are very clear and a useful reference for trying to replicate the basic look.

Thanks, Steve

Thanks Pim,

Very helpful for searching for similar looking gauges & switches. Could you clarify what each switch is used for and the red oblong on the dash - just save me the time searching - some are obvious, whats that little rotating switch for on the far right - is that the dimmer switch for the dash illumination?

Much appreciated, Steve

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that - been searching as well, getting there slowly! What does the right hand switch do with the three horizontal dots - going to ask cos been lookin and aint found a simple answer yet - although some of these switches are getting hard to find with the correct/similar symbols, correct?

What the pictures of the switches on the dash don't show is that there is also a sidelight/headlight switch mounted on the other side of the dash in the trimmed section.

Hi Guy, are there any pics of these available? Can you just clarify what each gauge is as shown as i can only make out the bottom two which are amps on the left and fuel on the right, the upper three from left to right are? And so there are 5 control switches on the standard binnacle then? Is that a screen wash pump in between the the speedo & tacho?

Sorry to be so base its just saving me some time as i'm chasing some gauge & switches and need to know if they are near enough correct,

Steve.

Rotating button between speedo and tacho is used to reset partial kms on the tacho.
Switches are (left to right):
Heater fan, fog lamps, interior light, spare.

Picture of light up-down operating button:

Thankyou Tryphon, very helpful just two further questions:

Main Lights switch (up & down) is this a 2 position switch or a rocker type like an electric window type which permanently sits in that mid-way position shown in your picture?

Is the fan switch 1, 2 or 3 speed/position?

Many thanks, Steve

I'm a bit conused here.
What are sidelights ? And are they turned on and off toghether with the headlights ? (since the dropshaped lights on the side are turn indicator lights - right ?)
Are none of the lights operated by the levers on the steering wheel column ?
(Other than turn indicators)

Headlights are those to the side of the air intake I take it ? So the lights that come up and down only are used when not having traffic coming at you ? What operates them ?

/Patriq

Okay, the headlight switch has three positions, off where it sits like the rest of the dash switches, in at the top for sidelights and down for headlights.

Sidelights are small bulbs in the headlights that only give off a dim light. The rear lights and number plate lights are also lit at the same time by pushing in the headlight switch at the top.

To get dipped beam headlights the switch is pushed down and main beam headlights are switched on using the column stalks.

Hope that clears it up?

Thanks Guy, getting useful info here, can you answer the gauge query for the original top three from left to right, does it start water temp, then..? Finally on the 124 sport tacho is there a seperate the tacho reset knob
like the stratos has as Typhon explained? I'll leave you alone then to enjoy the Welsh countryside you lucky, lucky man! :p

Top row, left to right are Water Temp, Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature with Amps and Fuel below. The proper layout isn't really that important but I'd put the more important gauges, water temp and oil pressure wherever you can easily see impending disaster! If you are going RHD then you may wish to mirror image the layout?

Just finished packing for Wales. Gasmen are digging up the road outside right now so I've got to go get the car out of the garage before we are trapped!

Cheers

Yes, thanks !

So, can you have either only beam headlights from regular headlights - and then beam headlight in conjunction both from regular headlights and the dipped toghether ?

Sidelights (also known as parking lights) will raise the lamps and give dim light with rear lights. Dipped beam is headlights on as when a car is coming towards you, and is turned on by the same dashboard switch as the sidelights. Full beam is maximum light, blue light on instrument panel on, and is activated/de-activated by column lever.

Hi,

found some dimmer switches in ebay usa ...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320131261656&rd=1

I don´t know if they are hard to find, think this will be enough switches...think im going to buy one or two!

I´m reading this very interessting forum since the beginning of 2007 and i´m collecting parts for building a Hawk Stratos.

If you know where to look....

Fiat 124 Coupe, if you get the whole instrument panel there are the three minor gauges and the speedo/rev counter that are suitable for the replicas but the dimmer switch is the same as original plus you get a spare black plastic ring from the wiper speed control.
The chromed ringed ones came from the 124 Spider.
