Not sure on your timings but if you need a stop over for the night then the spare room is free.

Avoid Worcestershire & Gloucestershire....M5 not a good call at present as it's liable to get V busy/blocked if we get more rain ..but I doubt you'd be coming this far west anyway.
Bloody good job I got my scuba diver quali is all I can say......
...still, quite proud of the high-water mark on the old Alfa :)

Hi Stephen,
I would say your best route would be M23 out of Brighton, M25 anti clockwise to M1 and then M1 straight up. If you have an idea of what time you'll be travelling and fancy a coffee and a break, I'm only 2 minutes off M1 junction 27.
I used to do that run fairly regularly in about 3 hours. :)

Thanks John and Mick, You working Friday morning Mick?Stephen
Stephen, you should realise by now that according to John (strat6v) I'm never at work. :D
However, as it happens, I'm not at work Friday :o but I have an appointment booked at Noble Motorsport in Chesterfield at 9am so I anticipate being there until around lunch time.
Top secret though so can't tell you about it. :p
Suppose it will be too late to meet up if you have to be back by Friday evening.

Hi Mick, let us know how you get on at Noble, I have heard a few unfavourable reports about them lately. Like they won't let you in the room/near whilst they are dynoing & to add insult to injury they make you sign an indemnity to say that they are not responsible if it all goes wrong & blows upwhilst you are not there.
Best regards

Now you tell me
Seriously, when I've spoken to them, they seem a very friendly bunch but, forewarned is forearmed as they say.
I wonder if that only applies to their 'shootout sessions' that they run for clubs.
Apparently, on Saturday mornings, they open the rolling road for clubs and do maximum power runs to see who has the biggest BHP figures.
All sounds like an ego trip to me. :)
I'll let you know how I get on. :)

I can confirm Gloucestershire is a bit damp, my car got away lightly when a burst canal started to flood the area. Bit close for the donor car too:
Apparently the mainswater has now been cut off, what is the world comming to?

That sounds like a plan Phil - Going to Donnington on thursday and trying to meet up with the owner of a Red Strati that evening. This is all assuming my new (For that read 12 year old but an improvement on 16 year old ) car does not play up. Having bought the thing I am now reading lots of horror stories on the internet
Stephen
Ps Will contact you on thursday to confirm

Well, 1 out of 2. not bad. ;)
Yes it was an Emerald mapping session but not on mine. On my sons 'toy'.
All went OK but, as Craig said, they dont let you in the room for 'health & Safety' reasons.
All went OK though and certainly a lot more convenient than driving to Norfolk and back. Chesterfield is only about 12 miles for us so it was worth a try.
Quite happy with the end result but must admit, I'd like to have watched. :(
