Does anyone know if other than the Fiat 132 Front Stubaxle fit and do the job ? Is Fiat 131 or Fiat 124 the same ? They seem easier to find.
I'll be fitting 164 brakes etc. from my 164 donar car.

131 and 124 are different. The 132 items are like rocking horse s#*t
Hawk can supply the correct stub axle ( sourced from an eastern european fiat variant i think, not sure which one though  )

Ok,
I thought you needed to send them (Hawk) replacement stub axles that they altered?
I've found one (left) from a 132. But I would off course need both.
Honestly, I didn't catch what you meant - are the 132 stubs good or bad ?
Is there an alternative?

Fso polonez i think but check with other members here first before you buy any, i could be wrong. Also, when you do buy a pair, make sure they aren't bent. offer them up back to back for a rough check.
The rocking horse s--t bit, means they are very very difficult to find ;)

oh... that's what you meant !
:-)
I seem to recall that Hawk had difficulties before sourcing them. That's why I thought that now that I at least found one - I might buy it.

Fiat 125, 132, Argenta and FSO Polonez have the correct stub axles. I believe the 125/ 132 was also built in Turkey under license.

I don't think that they need to be modified by Hawk.

No ?
I thought there was a machined extension on them ?
It's indicated as well in the build manual.
And it also says in the build manual that you are supposed to send them to Hawk for modification.
Are we maybe talking about different parts ?

Here is an image I found of an upright from an Argenta. It's from the "backside". Is the machined extension just fastened with bolts on the top ?
Is this a correct upright ?

You're right, I'd forgotten about the vertical extension. I was thinking about making changes to the unit, rather than adding bits to it!

Ok.
But, how is it fastened ?
And, is this a correct upright? It is for sale. Could I buy this and it would fit ?

Hi Patrick,
I did not have any stub axles, so I bought mine straight from Hawk, you can see the extension that is unpainted on the pic. The other parts are the steering arms.

Hi Patriq,
There was a thread on the forum about this by Guy not so long ago. Like you I thought the extension was fastened by the nut at the base but it would seem they are an interference fit that are pressed in by hydraulic pressure and using considerable force.
Hope that helps

I don't think it's a round taper either. maybe Colin could shed a little light on this?

Yes the taper is machined out so that the extension has a shoulder fit. This is done so the top joint is at an exact height. The upright in #9 is the correct one.

The Lada (Fiat 124) upright is not the same part, and of no use to a Hawk builder. It is quite similar though.
The distance between the ball joint mounts isn't the same and the thick end of the stub axle is a smaller diameter.
