I'm going to the big smoke later this week to see the streets paved with gold, and might have some spare time to try seats etc. Are there any shops in London that you recommend?

If you're driving down then a visit to Demon Tweeks is worth the detour (Wrexham Industrial Estate), they have a lot of seats on display (with signs saying please don't sit on them!) Ring them for a catalogue if you haven't got one, 01978 664466 but they are expensive!

There used to be Grand Prix Racewear in Chiswick, but they moved up to Silverstone.

Only other one I can think of is Burton Power out in Ilford.

Most of these type of companies do most of there sales by mail order, and so they are located out in the cheaper warehousing areas.

By the way, I've got about 6 copies of the Demon Tweeks catalogue if anyone is short of a copy. It seems to be being given away with every magazine nowadays.

Shame it's this week, Chris, otherwise you could have popped out to my house for a while. I'm 5 minutes walk from Preston Road underground station on the Metropolitan Line.

Unfortunately, this week is bad for me timewise, as I have to get the car ready for a rally on Saturday, and I'm really busy workwise. I've just come in from the garage, and I'm about to start some programming work now.

Don't know if they are still there, or even still trading, but how about Ripspeed? They have/had 'supermarket' type premises in North London.

Used to be a competitor for Demon Tweeks, but I think that they've gone more for the bean-can exhaust and baseball-cap brigade - despite Keith Ripp's motorsport background.

A quick search on the web provided the following (old?) contact info:

Ripspeed International
54, Fore Street,
Edmonton,
London.

Ripspeed went bust in a big way about 3 years ago. They tried to restart under anew name but failed again about 6 months later.

I believe that Halfords then puchased the trading name and are now using it for their "go-faster" goodies.

A very difficult thing to achieve. I suggest waiting until Abingdon and sitting in as many cars and different seats as you can. I bought a sparco off road, Vinyl cover 5 slot FIA approved for my Midas as its one of the smallest seats available. It wont fit and allow me to wear a bone dome so it is still in its box in the shed.(Offers invited. can deliver to Abingdon) get to the point Stephen
Try before you buy

I know its not strictly London, but I use Auto-Cross in Bracknell, 01344 422220.

This is a proper motorsport shop, its quite small, but theres always rally cars being prepared or repaired (usually with a Cosworth or Scooby badge) but they do sell more or less everything.

I think Stephens (SUSIT) suggestion of waiting till Abingdon is a very good one, as your probably going to be able to test a wide selection of seats that will definately fit a Stratos.
