Anyone out there with one or two door mirrors of the type fitted to most of the [earlier] replicas?
Sorry, no photo at present. This type has an oval style mirror in an 'egg-shaped' housing, on a short arm that has spherical joints at each end. They are 'handed' too.
They are made by Vitaloni and have the part number III [E3] 30089 moulded into the casing. These are different to the easily available 'Californian' style of mirror.
They have been available as a Fiat part, although I don't know which model car they came from. Anyone know what car that would have been?
The Fiat part number appears to be 4421952, on an old invoice I have for one of mine (that has now broken).
Any sources on where these might still be available?
Perhaps one of our mainland Europe members might have some luck in trying the Fiat dealers for them?

John,
If I remember rightly, the mirrors are off a Fiat 127 Sport. They are also as rare as the proverbial, but if anyone finds a supply I wouldn't mind a couple of spares!

I'm not sure what those mirrors are.
In my case, I would really like to get a replacement drivers door mirror of the same type as I had before, so that it will fit in the existing mounting holes.
I've actually got some previously-repaired items on the way to me, courtesy of Rowland, but I'd like to try and find some more - either as future spares, or maybe to go on my other Stratos replica! I think I'll probably go for something more easy to source on that car though...

John, the Mk1 mirrors are the type I have on my car with the chrome finish painted black. It's the closest thing I have ever come across to the original car. The original Stratos only ever had one door mirror on the left side and any that you see with a second is a Beta one. If the pair are a perfect match then the drivers one has been swapped too.
Shaun, there were a few members looking for this type of mirror, I think Scott McGill is after a pair as is Andrew Way so they should find a good home!

Shaun,
Guy is right - I am still looking for a pair of Mk.1 Beta mirrors. The finish on the chrome is not important, since I'd be painting them black anyway.
The rest of the mirror, of course, should be in good order. U.S. Betas didn't have the same mirrors as the UK / European models, and I can't get spares over here.
Thanks,

The pictures of Group 4 rally cars have various configurations, and mounting points - some on the door, some on the front body, but mostly pairs.

Yep, I've noticed a huge variation on the types of mirrors fitted onto the competition cars - most of which differ to the types that were fitted to the standard production cars.
Thanks for the info on the mirror types used for the kits, useful to know - even if I cannot find the right parts, I now know what to look for.

Finally had chance to look for some door mirrors, Fiat part No. 4421952 exists on the steam driven computer at 41€, it does not exist on the modern system with which orders are placed, so you can not easily order any!
Series one betas are quite common here in France so those mirrors should be available from people such as Behmann Classic Auto or L’Ancienne Lancia. Next time there is one for sale I will show a bit more interest - mirrors and glovebox locks. etc.
