Can someone let me know the diameter of the fuel hose used in connecting standard Hawk tanks. Daft question, but just trying to get ahead with my purchasing and don't have tanks yet!
Fuel rail of a 164 looks to be 8mm, is this the same for all connections?
Thanks

I think 8mm is what mine has for tank - pump. The balance pipe is much bigger, about 13mm, but that was an aftermarket addition, not a Hawk standard item.

The balance pipe on my car was probably about 8mm but I found that flow through it was quite restricted and I ended up replacing it with a much larger bore, nearer 15mm. In the early days I had a T piece in the balance pipe to a fuel pump, off to the carb and back to the tank. At the MOT station on tickover the pump shifted more fuel than the engine needed and more was returned to the tank than could be transferred through the balance pipe... it overflowed! methinks that would be an SVA fail......
Anyway, in these days of injection the return pipe goes to the same side as the fuel pick up so no chance of overflowing!

What size, thread & type of fitting do I need for the fuel tanks?

Hawk tanks just have a plain aluminium pipe stub.

My tanks are steel with return & breather stubs on top but open threaded ports on the bottom for the supply

Hi,
The connections on the bottom of my HAWK tanks appear to be M14 female boss. I couldn't find a "fish tail" to suit, so had them made up.. M14 male thread to a tail to suit 12mm i/d hose.
I've coupled a pair together to act as the balance. The othe pair I've directed to the fuel pump (via a pre filter).
Post fuel pump I've routed to a fuel injection filter.. From memory this is all in 8mm i/d hose.
The return I've split to deliver to both tanks. Still to prove it all... Hopefully only a week or so away from seeing if it'll fire up.
regards
Andrew
