Hi - I am a bit puzzled! This car is described as a Corse, but has Mcpherson strut rear suspension and rose-jointed rear suspension....I thought that was the setup on the Hawk!? sounds like a lovely car from the description, though. Anyone know anything about the car? (i.e. prangs, smashes, victories, lovely engine note, etc.)

CAE the builders of the Corse had two models on the go, the first is known as the Corse S and is the one you see for sale. later they developed a completely new chassis and did away with the struts at the rear for the double wishbone setup of the Corse I
Read a bit about this Car and it was at Abingdon in 2004 but I dont remeber hearing it running. Been for sale for 2 or more years, started at offers around the £40K mark but has been advertised more recently around £25000 The gearbox is a nice piece of kit and would have cost in the region of £5K
but it is a rally car and would need a bit of work to turn into a comfartable road car. If you do buy it and want to sell the gearbox drop me a line :D

All is revealed!
Thanks, Susit, for the wise words. I am certainly looking for a Stratos replica, but would need to use it as my everyday car (30 action-packed miles a day)...and perhaps a rally prepped vehicle is more hairy than I need (strictly speaking)....and even more unlikely that the vendor would go for the meagre shekels I can offer!
I do a lot of country roads in the course of my day, though, and need a car with decent ground clearance and decent "overtaking ability" to get past the agricultural vehicles that clog up the Kentish lanes :D :D ..I suspect this baby would more than fit THAT requirement!
thanks again for the friendly and informative posts - this forum is genuinely the nicest place on the web I have ever visited.
cheers,
Bill

Not sure that a Stratos fulfils that bit Bill!

I'm sure I met this guy at Stoneleigh this year. As myself and my brother were last to leave the stand on the Monday afternoon, a guy with a beard was talking to us and talking about his all white rally prepared Corse for sale.
I think he's had it for a few years and done a fair bit of development work (from what he said).
He was talking £25k for it.
Seems pricey to me at that, but then I'm a Scotsman........

You are probably right Mark, Andrew does have a beard.
The car on paper at least is worth over £20k. The gearbox is a tasty bit of kit and also has a mappable ecu (wolf).
The car is a rally prepped car, so is a little rough around the edges, but overall very tidy and well put together.
I would not suggest anyone getting it if they want a nice comfortable 'show' car as it will need a lot of sorting. This IS a pure, no frills competition car, which in the right hands could be very competitive.
The bottom line with any car is that it is only worth what the man on the street is willing to pay.
Cheers
Tim

just to reply to Chris..
I thought that the Corse S in "forest mode" would have the ground clearance to soak up some pesky bumps and potholes....I have had my triumph and then a passat die in the back roads of Ravensdane Woods...and the thought of roaring through there with 240 horses at my back is a sweet fantasy of boneshaking revenge!
Still thinking seriously of bidding for this car - before I am too old to enjoy something this hardcore!
Bill :D

Andrews car is an out and out rally car. In one of the pictures he has of the car in competition it's clearing the road by about 3 feet. Is that enough for you Bill?

If I had thought I would get it for 15K it would be in my garage as we speak,
I think Bill as an every day car any Stratos, kit or otherwise would become a pain in the a-se and everywhere else for that matter, they generally leak and mist up. It takes brave or stupid people to run a kit car as there only road car (Ask me how I know that) Get a Stratos but consider running a second car, any car cheap and cheerful and you will enjoy your trips in the Stratos all the more.
cheers
Stephen

I think Tim's Stratos owning philosophy is sound. Run it and worship it, but keep a sound little economical runabout for every occasion when you don't want to or can't run the Strat.
I know Andrew wants to sell the car as he has other projects in mind, but I don't think anyone is going to get it for £15K. It would give Mr. Perez's car a run for it's money I'm sure, and what fraction of the cost of that car would you get the Corse for?

No bids for this one.

I was in the astonishingly fortunate position of having TWO stratos replicas on Ebay at the same time - and have plumped for the unfinished Hawk HF2000 kit, which I have now to trail from Manchester to Saltwood in Kent! Hence no bids - if the Hawk had gone over my limit, I would have made a (probably futile) cheeky bid on the Corse. Almost certainly too hairy for my daily commute, though!
Still, Andrew's beast was a serious temptation. I hope he gets a buyer for it - just no way my trouble and strife would allow me to seize TWO of these beauties!

I bid only, in the end.
