Off to the Mille Miglia this week, in a change of pace I will be driving my Allard J2 which did the race in 1951 driven by Sidney Allard (he crashed). The driving experience is very different, and by way of example in the Allard you need to leave a meter either side of you if you are going to stand on the brakes as you never know which way it is going to pull as the massive drum brakes at the front are a little unpredictable, and steering is based upon more of an approximation technique.
